Are you or someone you know struggling with mental health issues and looking for innovative treatment options? Look no further than a specialized clinic in San Jose that offers cutting-edge therapies to improve mental well-being.

This clinic, Piedmont Interventional Psychiatry, is dedicated to providing personalized care through a combination of medication management, psychotherapy, and advanced treatments for mental illnesses. They go above and beyond traditional treatment methods by offering unique interventions tailored to each individual's needs.

If you've been afflicted with treatment resistant depression, you're not alone. The large NIMH study called the STAR*D trial investigating the effectiveness of the FDA approved treatments for depression showed that only 1 in 3 patients treated with anti-depressants had fully resolved their symptoms of depression with their first medication, and after trying 4 different treatments, about 1 in 3 patients still did not see full relief from their symptoms. The study also showed that the more medication trials attempted, the more likely it was for the depression symptoms to come back.

Our clinic offers Spravato which is one of the few treatments tested in this population of those who have suffered from depression for sometimes many years, and tried multiple treatments without feeling better. The medication works in a rapid manner, with people feeling immediate relief sometimes within hours of their first treatment, in a way that is completely different from typical antidepressants. However, the treatment does carry risks and side effects, so please discuss in detail with your individual provider.

Spravato is FDA approved for treatment-resistant depression and depression with acute suicidality. This medication is administered via a nasal spray which must be administered in a supervised clinic setting with 2 hours of medical monitoring after treatments. The treatments occur 1-2 times per week with the frequency decreased over time. Spravato has shown promising results in improving mood and overall quality of life for individuals struggling with severe and treatment resistant depression. However, treatment with this medication requires a comprehensive health evaluation and screening for pre-existing physical and mental health conditions to determine if a patient is eligible for these treatments..
